The Elder William Brewster Society was organized by the descendants of this Mayflower Pilgrim to celebrate the life of William Brewster who came to America in 1620 on the Mayflower. He was the ruling Elder of the group and kept them together in good times and bad. He played a major role in planning and organizing the trip to America and the escape from religious persecution, which they had suffered in England. He remained ruling Elder until his death in 1644.

    It is the Society’s wish to memorialize William Brewster and to educate the public about the Pilgrim Story and, specifically, the importance of the Elder’s contribution in the founding of the first successful colony in America.
